Our Mission
Amityville Artists’ Atelier serves as a gathering space for our community. We joyfully welcome celebrations, openings, and classes, transforming our versatile venue into a vibrant hub for interaction, dialogue, and shared experiences. Through our dynamic programs, engaging events, and meaningful partnerships, we nurture artistic growth, cultivate connections, and contribute to the cultural vitality of our community. Rooted in the belief that art knows no boundaries, we actively foster an inclusive atmosphere. We celebrate the diversity of our community in a space where everyone, irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, or ability, feels valued and respected.
Our History
Amityville Atelier is the offshoot of Great South Bay Dance. Established in 2009 by Liz Fanning, Great South Bay Dance is a dance education company that provides dance programming to schools, libraries, and municipalities across Long Island. Great South Bay Dance opened a formal dance school in Amityville in 2012. In addition to providing dance classes at its Amityville school for over a decade, Great South Bay Dance frequently rented its studio to dance and other groups in need of studio space. This demand for flexible studio rental space by artistic professionals within the community prompted the creation of Amityville Atelier.
